Since I started my yoga practice earlier this year, I have learned to redefine what healthy means for me. Before I used to think of healthy as just a physical state of being fit and of eliminating the not-so-good stuff in my daily life. Back then I focused more on getting rid of fatty food, lessening (even to the point of completely eliminating) carbs, and getting a good nights sleep. However, as I have become more mindful about what being healthy really means to me, I have come to the realization that “healthy” is not just free of disease or discomfort, but it really is a more wholistic concept. Today, I think of healthy as being in a balanced state of having what I need and what I want. It isn’t just restricting one’s self from pleasure, after all, but really living a life in moderation and equilibrium. And the way to obtain that balance is by modifying our lifestyle to include healthy choices and alternatives.
You might wonder why I suddenly started sharing about my redifinition of healthy in this post. Well, to put it simply, it’s because I came across a new group coupon site called Healthy Deals Philippines. Like most group coupon sites, they offer great deals at discounted prices. The difference, however, of Healthy Deals Philippines is that it’s main goal is to promote health and wellness. As such, the deals they offer are all geared towards the health and wellness of the customer. I browsed through their current deals and one of the deals that caught my attention is the one offering a three-month weight management program at 6,000 pesos off the regular rate. The package includes health, nutrition and wellness coaching, which as I have experienced in the past, really helps with not just losing weight, but in modifying behaviors that lead to weight gain and unhealthy habits to begin with.
I really appreciate how this site tries to make catching a healthy deal more affordable and convenient to the public. To be honest, one of my most major difficulties with trying to switch to a healthier lifestyle is really the cost that it entails. Just look at menus in restaurants or items in the grocery store…those that are the healthier options are often more expensive. For example, a kilo of organic brown rice is about thirty to forty pesos more expensive than the regular white one, right? So for many like me, we end up prioritizing cost over health benefits.
