A few weeks ago I saw a post on Facebook by my blogger friend Jeman and his site, Orange Magazine TV, for a hair makeover courtesy of Revlon Professionals. I did not hesitate to sign up immediately and in the form, I said I think it would be a great way to celebrate the progress I have made in my weight loss efforts.

This is me in December 2009, right before I started this site in January 2010:

Since then I have lost about 40 pounds and though I still have a long way to go, I can’t help but celebrate every little progress, right? A makeover sure would have been a great way to celebrate and so I signed up and kept my fingers crossed that I get picked :)

I was really glad to have the chance to join in on the Revlon Makeover weekend. During the event, I (along with my fellow bloggers) got to talk to the owners of Signature Style, Vicky Lim and her daughter Nicole about their company and their products. Signature Style holds the exclusive distributorship of Revlon Professionals in the Philippines and has been a pioneer of the hair and beauty industry since May 1996. More than just distributing Revlon Professionals products, however, the mother and daughter tandem emphasized that their goal in business goes beyond money-making. Rather, they want to educate local hairstylists and allow them to really hone their craft by knowing more about the history, science and technique of hair styling, coloring and the like. Further, they want to emphasize that style is not exclusive.

Presently Signature Style is introducing the Revlon Professional’s Marrakech Collection. This is a new product line that captures the style, independence and modernity of today’s iconic woman. Given that the woman of today is a woman on the go, the company aimed to come up with products that allow for practicality and flair. And of course, given the inspiration of the city of Marrakech, a spark of sophistication.

For the makeover, I opted for a color and highlight treatment.

I will be honest. I do my own hair coloring mainly because it just is SO expensive to have your hair coloring done in a salon. However, after giving this one a try, I realize that like their slogan goes, you do need a professional at times :) I finally got the “Addison” (Addison Montgomery of Grey’s Anatomy that is!) red hair I’ve always wanted :)

To finish off my treatment my stylist Fem used the Revlon Professional Nutricolor Creme. I loved how it smelled. It was like a mix of fruit and all sorts of yummy stuff. The colorant used for my hair had the typical smell of hair colorants but it was less pungent and it didn’t sting as much as the home colors I use (then again it could be the venue too hehe). In any case, I liked how the Nutricolor Creme left my hair soft and shiny after the treatment. One “problem” however, is that it really highlights your highlights! Therefore my red hair was RED. Like superhero red!!! Hehe. I loved it but due to work concerns I had to ask them to tone it down a bit which they gladly did. The end result…
