For my birthday this year, one of my dearest friends (who, coincidentally, led me to the wonderful discovery of yoga!), gave me an Aquazorb yoga series towel for my practice. It came out very useful when I started doing vinyasa classes because I sweat like crazy in that class. And when I say sweat like crazy, I mean LIKE CRAZY! As in drippy, soaky, super didoooper sweaty. After some time, I found it difficult to even stand in my mat because it tended to get very slippery because of the sweat.
The towel helped a lot because it would absorb sweat very quickly and it offered some traction so I don’t slip on the mat so bad.
The one she got me was the first release of the yoga series. It’s kinda like a terry cloth towel but less slippery. According to the literature of the towel, it’s supposed to cling well enough to a sticky mat. It worked well enough for me, but I would have to spritz it with water to make it not slip too much and I would have to fold it over so it’s only by my hands and not the entire length of the mat because my feet would still slip on it. On a scale of 1-10, I’d probably give it a 7.
However, I noticed that my yoga classmates had a different type of towel. It was also aquazorb, but it had silicon dots in the bottom. I decided that since I needed at least one (or two!) more, I’d give that a try. So I went all the way to Power Plant in Rockwell to get one (haha…yes, the girl who refused to step in sports stores even to buy gifts like soccer socks for my sister who was a varsity soccer player went all the way there to buy something for her “sport”
)

The silicon-dotted towels retail for Php 1,000 each. A little steep, but much, much cheaper than it’s counterpart, Yogitoes. Compared to the non-dotted one, this one makes me slip much less, but I still do slip a bit. I kinda don’t know what to do about the slipping anymore, but, heck, these towels sure make it much easier. Maybe it’s the mat…haha
I so dream of getting a sticky Manduka mat or perhaps a Jade one, but even those that I’ve tried still haven’t been perfect.
Anyway, for now, these Aquazorb towels are great yoga partners for me in the meantime. I also got the little finger towels to dry off during the practice. They cost Php 90.00 each.
