After spending so many months hooping and days on the mat (the yoga mat, that is
), today I went back to an old love: the water
I don’t know why but I was just filled with the need to move today and for some reason, I felt the urge to swim. I don’t usually like swimming in a pool because I don’t like the color you get from it (but I do love tanning in the beach haha) so I couldn’t explain why I just HAD to swim today but since I’ve been learning to stop questioning and just do what I feel I need, I went.
Oh love.
I swam for a good forty minutes and in that span, I just felt the life come back to me with every stroke and in every breath. I guess this just reminded me that one: swimming is really one of my favorite movement activities, two: I should do it more, and three: it’s a perfect complement to my yin yoga practice
I think because of the awareness I have been building in yoga, and the stretching of the connective tissues and strengthening of the muscles, as well as the controlling of breath that I have cultivated these past few months, I was able to swim better and in a more efficient manner. More so, I wasn’t as tired as I used to get when swimming
Yes, today I made it back to the water and it was pure joy
