As I continue down this journey to better health, I am often reminded that more than being slim and sexy, my goal should be to be healthy and fit. I catch myself often skipping meals and depriving myself to the point that I get woozy then before I know it, I am binging because of it. Also, I’ve been taking more careful note of my body’s response to things, especially since I had gotten sick again this week. From being breathless when I walk to getting a nagging pain at the back of my legs as well as having feelings of rising blood pressure, I have to keep this in check, after all, I don’t wanna keel over and pass out, right?

What I have decided to start this week is to be more consistent in monitoring my health, rather than just my weight. This includes getting a basic check done, including blood tests and the like to get a baseline of how things are. And then I hope to be able to monitor these from home just to keep tabs of progress. Lucky for me we have all sorts of health gadgets and equipment such as sphygmomanometers, glucometers and pulse oximeters which we used for my grandfather before. I want to be able to accomplish the following, besides dropping pounds that it: lowering my cholesterol level, maintaining a healthy blood pressure consistently, and having a stable sugar count. Why these three? Given my family history of hypertension and diabetes, plus the fact that I have PCOS, I am at risk for these illnesses.
