I’ve resigned myself to the fact that I cannot completely give up rice again! There’s just no way I can do it, at least for now. Be it fried rice or just a plate of hot, steamed rice, I love it. The big problem here is that I can eat a whole mound full of it, even with just a bit of viand and soup. As we call it, kaing trabahador. While those laborers eat a lot because their bodies need it to compensate for their workload, I eat just because I want to.

While giving it up completely is an impossibility, I know I can start lessening it by carefully rationing my rice intake. I guess that’s what the art of moderation really is anyway, right? Starting today, I will limit myself to a cup of rice per meal. I hope to taper this down to half a cup within the next month.
